It was a difficult year. I had my nerve pain issues and surgery, my Dad had health concerns, and my husband had a very strange health event which caused him to lose most of the sight in one eye just before Thanksgiving. We are still hoping that over the next few months he will see some improvement. So yes, I am definitely ready for the promise of a better year in 2014!
While I have not made any blog entries, I have done some sewing. YAY! I finished up my Scrappy Trips quilt top. I need to get it outside for a proper photo. This was when I still had one block left to sew.
I've finally put my Liberty & Justice bee blocks up on the design wall, and made a decision on how I want to finish it up. These blocks come from a bee that ended in July - just before my surgery. I need to make one more 16" block, which I have chosen fabrics for. Then I plan to add sashing (white) with a diamond corner block where the sashing meets. If I add sashing to the outer edges as well, I can get it up to the size needed for Quilts of Valor. I am looking forward to getting this finished to meet my commitment to donate the quilty result of this bee.
I won one of Faith's monthly giveaways at Fresh Lemons sponsored by SkyReve Fabrics. This is the super cute Farm Life bundle I won:
I decided to combine my winnings with some left over pieces in my stash to sew a quick Layer Cake Lemonade pattern from the Fat Quarter Shop, perfect for large prints like these. I took the certification class at a local shop so that I can rent time on the Longarm. This will be an excellent quilt to test out the whole longarm process, and since I have nobody with little kids to gift this to, I will have a nice donation quilt here too I think.
Finally, I have a pixel quilt in the planning stages. This one will be a quilt for my husband since it is a reproduction of a photo I took of him Ski Racing last year. This one will be a long-term project I am sure!
I am gathering up all of the projects I will enter in the 1st Quarter Finish-A-Long, which starts in a couple of days. Hoping for a good day to take a few photos outdoors. Brrrrr!
Welcome, welcome 2014!!
