Nobody's getting anything done...

Hi All -
Linking up to Freshly Pieced's WIP Wednesday! Check it out!
WIP Wednesday at Freshly Pieced

It was an interesting week while my older two boys were away at Scout camp. I took my younger son to our vacation home 2 hours away to check on the progress of the new deck we are having put on the house. It needed replacement because the old one had never been installed correctly, and as time went on, I worried more and more that it would fall and someone would get hurt. When I got there, it wasn't as far along as it was expected to be. We stayed 2 days, and I debated staying there for an extra day to be sure the crew showed up and got stuff done. I ended up not doing that, and as a result, that darn deck is still not done.

Meanwhile, I did NO sewing, and I was pretty unhappy about that! I have been struggling with a chronic nerve pain condition, and it is hard for me to get a good night sleep lately. When Mom doesn't get her rest, nobody's happy! My patience is at an all time low going into this last month of summer, when the kids have a LOT of unstructured time. Perfect.

So, sewing and feeling like I am accomplishing something is going to be key! I've kicked myself in the butt today to try to get one of my WIPs done. Now I wish I has made that lavender border narrower. I'll have to think about whether I can live with it or if I am going to take it apart.

I also pulled out a VERY old WIP to see if I can "make it work"as Tim Gunn would say. Speaking of which, I am going to be very torn this week at Project Runway time - Olympics? Runway? Olympics? Runway?  I bet the remote will be working overtime!

Here is my OLD project that stalled many years ago when I had no idea what to do next...

I may try to turn this on point, add a border, or make this into a more modern quilt with just this square on a large solid background. I have to see what fabrics I can pull out that might work. If I can figure out how to finish this, it would be a great quilt to donate to a children's organization.

I can't believe its the end of July already... Happy August everyone!

  1. Oh, I HATE nerve problems! I have to walk 5-6 times a week for 45-60 minutes to keep mine at bay or I have all kinds of nerve issues that won't let me sleep and make me feel really blecky. I hope yours is just temporary!

    1. Hi Lynn - No, unfortunately mine is chronic pain. But, on the good side, I am trying out some new medication to see if it helps me. Fingers crossed! Walk, walk, walk! Keep that nerve pain away!

  2. Way to go pulling out an old stash project! I am working on using only stash fabrics too. I love the purple border on the quilt just as is, but purple is my favorite color...hee hee!

    1. Yep, I'm a purple girl too. I think I am going to leave it as is. It will have a darker purple back, which I LOVE! I am thinking of putting a scrappy binding on it. Or maybe orange. I'll have to see after it gets quilted. Thanks for stopping by!
